Can't find the receipt

Can anyone help with this query I purchased a hoover for a friend last Christmas from a large supermarket. Now the problem is the hoover has kinda packed up and my friend wants to take it back and see if she can exchange it.

This is less than a year old so will I need the receipt? or can I get round this at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is there something in the paperwork from the manufacturer themselves about replacing or repairing if under a year old?

I'm sure Tesco give you a year without the receipt.

Did you pay by credit card? If so it may be insured by the credit card company!

its still under warranty so she can just say it was a present and she has no receipt just say when it was brought, she should be ok with that.
