Skates help

What in your opinion are the best skates for transport at the moment, my son has a pair of Salomon FSK Deemax 2 (2 or 3 year old) but the wheel has fell off, he uses them for getting from A to B up the odd kerb, or wall, but not generally tricks. I'm thinking of buying him another pair, but given the age, are there now advances in FSK skate specifications, and what would you buy?
