My 10 year-old seems determined to be known as "Jacky the Ladette" - she has seen a similar age girl with a Tee-Shirt "YOUR boyfriend thinks I am cute" and wants one. Any ideas where - preferably on the internet.
yeah, I have to agree.... I know kids grow up quickly but couldn't you play down the boyfriends and the come-on T-shirts for just a couple more years? No need to lecture her on it, just tell her she should wait till she's older... or don't parents do that these days?
I've got a coupl of their bits the quality is fine and the prices are good especially considering the strength of the pound against the dollar at the minute.
But if she wants something specific I'd buy a T shirt in the size you know fits her and get it printed.
Hope you get your daughter the present she wants JTL, but I agree with Mrs O. If moving with the times is letting young people of 10 look 18, then I'm glad I live in the Dark Ages.
You don't have to move with the times. It's perfectly reasonable for a parent to tell a child that something is too old for her. For one thing, it's teaching her she doesn't have to just do what everyone else does, but should think for herself and not be afraid to uphold her own standards.
how about trying to instill in her the fact that the slogan on the t-shirt is not to be applauded in any way - I hope that's not the mentality she is going to grow up with....
Well, I'm sorry I agree with jno and others on here. Just don't buy it for your daughter and tell her she is too young. It is up to you to guide your daughter and what is more protect her. She is 10 for goodness sake. I wouldn't let my daughter have one until she was a good few years older.
It's about time parents started taking their responsibilities seriously and stopped indulging their children and encouring them to be little grown ups. Children might appear more grown up physically these date but they are far from mentally mature.
Who will you blame when she has to tackle a situation with boys that she is far from ready for?
