I'm in the UK on the South Coast not far from Brighton , next town further along is Hastings 1066 and all the history , but I bet the weather is better in NZ , as it's cold and damp here . Happy New Year x

On a cliff face up in Arthur's Pass we were shown a dark line in the strata, which apparently was where the Australian and Pacific tectonic plates meet. There was a pool of warm water nearby, heated by the plates rubbing together. Fascinating place all round.
