I've recently lost a bit of weight and UK size 6 is now too big for me. I love being this size, but I'm finding it incredibly hard to find clothes to fit me in the shops. I am currently shopping in the childrens sections in stores, but I want fashionable clothing that fits right.

Does anyone know where I can find UK size 4 clothes in the high street that isn't in the petit section? I know that Dorothy Perkins have started to sell size 4 in their petit range, but as I'm 5"3, the jeans and trousers are too short for me. I need to find size 4 in regular lengths. Please help...

I don't believe how many people are telling you to see a doctor! When I was 17 years old and younger I was a size 12.. I'm 5"9, but as soon as i started working the weight dropped off me, and I became a size 6, I felt so low when everyone was telling me I had an eating disorder and I looked like an addict, so I went to the docs, and found I had IBS! There's nothing I can do about it cos the docs and me have tried everything for me to put on weight for the last 11 years! So please guys, don't be so heartless! So anyway, I have finally found a place that does lovely size 6 clothes that fit me with my height, that's next! Give them a try! A lot of stores are trying to put smaller sizes in! Good luck and I'm really glad you're happy with yourself!!!
Even if she is ill, it is completely out of order to make those kind of remarks.
I dance between a 4 and a 6. There are a few brands that are labeled as a 6 but are an extremely small fit.
For example, WJP jeans.
There is also Bershka, they do a size 4. Their jeans are pretty awesome too. Skinnys in every colour.
some people are ridiculous
some people are naturally small
the same way some people are naturally big
im naturally a size 4/6
but i am NOT ill - if anything i eat too much junk and not enough fruit and veg
i know this is my natural size because ive never been bigger than this!
ive Always been smaller
but just because im small doesnt mean i am far too skinny
if i was the doctor would have said something and not that i am perfectly fine.

anyway back to the point

Asda have recently started selling size 4, but you have to go to the shop and have a good looik around to actually find something - there isnt many
same with miss selfrige
i thought 5"4 and under was petite?
i'm struggling too.. and i don't know how to get clothes from the us?? shops in oxford street do a size 4/6.. sometimes i buy the size 6 and then fit it myself or get someone to make it a little tighter. miss selfridges do a size 4 but as you said in a petite.. u sure a petitie doesn't fit?
hope that helps a bit.. i think gap do it too..
shop around online on different sites and you should be able to find it. that's how i did it..
hope this helps
I am quite shocked and amazed some ignorant people automatically assume anyone with a small frame is ill, I have been trawling the web in search of affordable size 4 clothing. Like sugarplum84 I am extemely slim but not short, the trauma I have been expeiencing trying to cloth myself for my new job has been emotionally disturbing.

I feel some peoples ignorrance just further adds to my suffering, just because we were blessed with small frames and a high metabolism, we have to endure comments reffering to the state of our health. I have 3 children, aged 13,11 and 16 months, I also work full time, it is therfore not supprising I struggle to maintain weight.

I also cannot understand why retailers are allowing women to think they are a smaller size than they actually are, again I also have size 8 clothing from ten years ago which still fits perfectly(but are embarrasingly old fashioned), this for me just rings alarm bells!!! Here we are with a nation at risk of obesity, so we increase our sizes to make women feel better? Is this really helping, are we doing bigger ladies any favours?

My best freind I would guess is around an 18 to 20, it's like we live at opposite ends of the same spectrum, she's unhappy being big and due to the lack of avaialibility of small clothes I too am unhappy, what a shame some of the people posting their replies to this dilema are so narrow minded!!! If any one can help me find small clothes this would certainly help.
i am a very healthy size 4.. i buy most of my clothes from designer tom wolf at envy, they do a very small fitting size 6. not only do they look great, they ar very reasonably priced..
Try Jane Norman, im a size 6 in every shop I know but I have to buy an 8 from there so a size 6 might be ok for you.
take no notice of the rude comments some have posted, they are not only shallow but more than likely jealous. just as some people can not help being on the large size do they realise there are those of us that can not help being small! Iam 34, 5ft 3" and have had 4 kids but am a size 4 so i know where you are coming from hun! I buy most of my clothes from Asda they have a G21 selection which starts in a size 4 they all come in standard or long length, while they dont have a hugh selection it is pretty good, they have now recently widened thier range as i have now been able to purchase smart clothes for work from there. I have also found that the bigger the store the bigger the range and it is all fashinable and up to date stuff. Other than that i am afraid it is the kids section in new look or tammy girl and other such stores my lovely. Happy shopping and dont change for anybody, if you are happy than thats all that matters! x Oh and you wont see the G21 selection online so it's visiting the shop only i'm afraid. good luck.
I have the same problem as sugarplum 84, naturally slender uk size 4 (even after children), but find clothes in the petite section to short in the leg, i am 5"2 which is classed as petite but actually have long legs it is my torso that is short.

the only places i can find size 4's in are top shop and miss selfridge but that i have to go to big city's to find these, they are not avilable in my local town.

After reading some of the replys posted on here i am disgusted by some peoples small minded and biggoted views!! I am naturally this way, i would love to conform to what people call the norm (well the average size in uk now is a 14, and i wouldn't want to go that big on my frame) but would love to be an 8/10 as i could then walk into any shop in highstreet and buy trousers, skirts, anything i wanted, instead of trawling round shops for hours coming home with nothing, and feeling dejected and discrimenated against because of my size!!

I eat whatever i want whenever i want (much to the disgust of my collegues at work) and do not work out or diet to be this way!

So sugarplum84 if i hear of anywhere i will be sure to let you know if you could do same for me that'd be great, but for time being its the kiddies sections for us, and just think we are saving a fortune as we dont pay VAT lol!!
Im am so disgusted in some people. I am a 19, VERY healthy size 4. When I was born the doctors gave my mum A LOT of grief as they thought she was not feeding me as I could not put on weight - this arrogance caused my mum so much stress, upset and hurt. she couldnt actually feed me anymore unless she made me vomit. This has unfortuantly continued for the past 19 years.
I receive comments and looks a lot of the time, especially if I wear skinny jeans etc. I have comments made to me for so many years - people coming up to me and asking me out right " are you anorexic?" or "oh my god youre so skinny" - i cry every single time - it is so horrible- there really are some nasty people in the world. I mean would you go up to an overweight person and say "oh my god you are so fat". I come from a very tiny/petite family and all the women in my family are tiny/petite and have been throughout the chain of women. My mum is 46 eats WHATEVER she likes and she does so all the time - EXACTLY the same as me - and she is only size 8 and had 2 children., and has never ever dieted.
People close to me say all the time how lucky I am as i can eat what i like when i like - but when people are so hurtful it doesn't feel it. Fortuantly I have an amazing partner and family who makes me feel amazing so my confidence has grown. Also, if a girl did have an eating disorder - do you really think that you would help bullying them - thats what you people are - BULLIES!
As I said I am a size 4 eat soooo much food everyday (not that i need to justify myself to you 'people' - and believe or not I have a very curvy body - i have boobs, a bum which sticks out and my waist goes in at all the right places. I DO NOT LOOK UNHEATHLY - and none of these other girls are either.
Girls - you are beautiful whatever size you are.
I am a size 4 at almost 5'6" and can never find jeans that fit. i fit into petite tops in most places. Banana republic is american and do size 0 and 00 jeans in regular lengths (33") and long lengths (36"). If you live in london, head to westfield mall, they have all the shops seliing size 4... Bershka, banana republic, gap etc.
hi there all
I would like to say that being a size 0 or a 4 which ever you would like to call it, isnt always a bad thing,
I am 5'1 and have been a size 4 / 0 all my adult life,
i have had 2 children and despite that the most i have ever weighed is 8 stone and my BMI is currently 17 ( i would like to add that my children where of average weight and very healthy)
i have seen dietitions, dr's and even mental health experts to see if its a relationship problem with food that is stopping me from putting on weight, i eat whatever i want whenever i want but the weight does not go on, my mum has been giving me some of her old clothes from the 80's and some of them even a size 10 is too small for me, i agree when people say that it is unfair that 'we' smaller sizes arent catered for as it is not always a choice that you are that smaller size, i also find it difficult to understand why you can have things like 'weight watchers' who are only for people who want to lose weight and nothing for those who are hoping to help their weight go up.

Both me and my mum still shop in the childrens section although it is harder for me to find clothes that fit as once they fit my waist they are too short in the leg, my mum doesnt have that problem!
so please some one out there convince the shops to do a smaller size!!!
Oh my God.. I really cannot believe what I am reading here.. jealous, narrow minded, pathetic individuals who seem to believe that if you're a size 4 that you're either abnormal, unhealthy or ill !?! It is possible to be a size 4, with curves... yes curves and boobs but just incredibly petite. There's a difference between petite and annorexic you know.

It is incredibly difficult to get clothes if you are as small as us petite size 4 people.. I have actually started making my own outfits for going out.. they fit like a glove and I know they'll fit how I want them to !

Otherwise.. from experience.. I've found H&M very good for jeans.. they do size 0.. Jane norman sizes are tiny too.. a size 6 there fits me great.
Asos can be great but its hard to tell sometimes whether the sizes are going to be big or small as they vary so much !
Lipsy.co.uk do fab small sizes in dresses.. never bought jeans or anything else so can't comment.

Miss sixty do a size 24 in Jeans which just about fits.. I also tried Jeans on at a guess shop recently and their size 24 was a very good fit, just gutted I didn't have money at the time to buy them.

Try also hudsonfashion.com some stunning items here and small sizes too !

Other than that .. its purely by trial and error.. just try things because even if they say they're a certain size on the label.. sometimes they're smaller than they are.

Just think to yourself though that you're special, and gorgeous and that all the best things come in small petite packages.. and don't listen to the numptys who know nothing about you saying you need a doctor. its them that needs one to get their heads read !

xXx Mwah
Hey,

I am also a size 4, and eat so much, so in no way am I anorexic or need to see a doctor. I have quite a few friends with the same problem - not being able to find size 4s or even sometimes a 6 in the high street shops.
I'm currently trying to set up an online shop which sells size 4s, 6s and 8s, by importing clothes from the US and selling them on their behalf, cutting the post and packaging rate (which is excessive when buying from america!)

I'd like to know how many of you would buy from this online store once I got it set up?
I went into topshop yesterday and found that most of the size 6 clothes i tried on were too big, but them size 4 clothes fitted me well, one was even slightly too big but with tousers the petite sizes are too short because im 5ft 9. I was recently accused of being anorexic which hurt, im naturally like this. People that are size 24 are the ones that need help. How can they do that to themselves? When I went to pay for it the woman at the till looked at the tag, saw the size and looked at me in disgust! this is so unfair, i would rather be a size ten like my friends, i cant help how i am. No one should want to be size 4 though
see a doctor????????
thats ridiculous!!
how can you say that when you dont even know the people who are size 4 ok if your friend was a size ten and next thing you know shes a size 4 in a really short amount of time you could say that nut no way can you say that to someone you dont even know.
I know this is an old post but I have exactly the same problem, except I am almost 5"9, however still a size 4. If anyone knows of a shop that does the small width as well as the long length I would be extremely grateful. ps yes I am healthy
