Coffee machines
Any one know if there are refillable type coffee pods for machines, as my wife is threatening to buy one but I like a particular brand of espresso coffee. I know you can buy various refills for them but not in the one I want.

You could consider buying a moka pot, a grinder and a cafetiere which would allow you and your wife to each have whichever type of coffee you want.
This would also give you a fresh, quality and more reliable product for years.
Another suggestion would be to get your coffee delivered fresh from a quality conscious micro-roaster such as hasbean.co.uk.

Personally i would abandon the idea. I had the chance of trying all the newfangled coffee pod machines. Every year there is a new one on the market, just as bad as the previous one. after a while the machines are obsolete, and the pods are discounted to nothing until they are out of fashion. 2 weeks ago, senseo pods were on sale at 35 pence for a bagful... the coffee is absolutely minging, acid.
i still go back to my 25 quid carlton espresso and filter coffee maker. I buy the lavazza beans from tesco at 8.99 a kilo, grind them, and voila'...... nice and yummi espresso. better than you can find in stabucks, nero, primo or whatever chain you care to mention.

leopard, looked at site and this and it appears more commercial, unless you know different
Domwine, yes as you can see I'm not into pods and apart from "liking making my own", I have noticed that all pods are not that good.
Tried a free shot of Nespresso from their 'The Cube' 149 coffee pod maker, and although it seems miserable it was not worth the 23-25p it costs when you buy it. i thinkthere is a major profit on these, similar to all those supposed upmarket coffee shops.
Agree with you re Lavazza beans and there are a few others which are reasonable too . When you are taking a few cups in a day you want it tasting decent.
Since I always get what I like in Italy, think I'll have to move there !
