I shower every day, sometimes even twice.

However, do you find that your wrist smells musty when you take your wrist watch off?

Also, do you find a greyish mucky residue in and around the back of the watch and the strap?

Or am I just being scummy?

scummy! :)

the grey bits are just dead skin cells that cant escape anywhere because the watch is in the way.

The smell is sweat, again caught under the strap.

Yep, what red said, Wardy. When I used to replace batteries at the jewellers I worked in, some watches used to make me heave.

I won't tell you about the ring a woman brought in to be cleaned- the one she was wearing when she had her fingers taken off by a moving car... :(
you must be scummy! my watch just smells like Vera Wang Princess!
eeeuuuuw. WS i have a really revolting image in my head now :(
You still get 'residue' even after showering once/twice a day?

scummy aint the word!

It usually happens to everyone. It's a mixture of body oils and perspiration. Use a finger to scratch or rub your scalp or rub behind an ear, then smell that finger. Euuuuuuk!
Oh, red, you have no idea. You'd have thought she'd have given it a rinse before she brought it in, wouldn't you?

Wardy, the only thing you can really do is replace the strap every so often. :)

No need. It washes off OK with normal soap and water. I sometimes use an old tooth brush to give it a good scrub. In fact it is due for a service soon so shall probably pay for a good spring clean.

I am glad to hear it is normal.

Does anybody sleep with their watch on?
no, why do i need to see my watch when I'm sleeping?
That's reminded me: mine needs servicing, too!

I don't sleep with mine on, but mine has a bracelet strap, so it'd be a bit uncomfy.

Our minimum lead time was always 4-6 weeks, pa___ul, or up to 2 months for a service. Three weeks isn't too bad! :)

I took out Omega Plus cover.

Fully guarenteed scratch replacement, 2 new batteries and 5 years of servicing for about 400 quid.

Seemed quite reasonable at the time
Question Author
Sorry forgot to add the service turn-around is one week if sent first class.
That's pretty good, Wardy, although it really shouldn't need servicing for the first few years. I had to sell the extended insurance covers where I worked and I got one myself (with lots of discount). :)
Question Author
Yes, the five years was after the statuatory one year guarentee (but not the scratch work).

I am still intrigued as to what was found in the amputated fingered woman?

Don't read if you're sensitive, then...

It was a large ring with lots of detail (nooks and crannnies). It was completely caked in blood and very small chunks of finger. She burst into tears when she gave it to me, but as I say, she could have given it a quick rinse beforehand!
Question Author
Perhaps she couldn't manage to turn the taps on?

She only lost two out of ten, Wardy. Bless her. :(
