Doorstep price of milk.
5 Answers
I have my organic, semi-skimmed milk delivered to the door in pint bottles. For all sorts of reasons, I would like to continue with this. However, for the second time in 6 months, the price has gone up again today. I am now being charged 73p per pint, delivered (ie, no extra delivery charge). I know that it is cheaper from the supermarkets/village shop, but that is far less convenient.
Is anyone else still having their milk delivered, in bottles? If so, what are you paying, bearing in mind that the milk I have is organic and I live in Dorset.

I just got a notice that it is going up 4% on the next bill. I will stick with my milkman through the increases for the convenience and to support both the milkman and local British milk, as well as the reusable glass bottles. I also appreciate being able to get other staples delivered if necessary - it's worth the slightly higher price.
Thanks, Wired and Solitude. That certainly means that it's not just here that prices are increasing. I want to continue for all the reasons that you give, Solitude, so, providing it doesn't get too high I too shall continue to support my local milkman. It also helps that he comes at about 5.30 in the morning!
