offence code 622 ( x speed)
8 Answers
Can any one tell me what the defination of offence code "622" x speed means? I was pulled over on a motorway by a lone traffic officer who said "you know why I have pulled you over don't you" I replied no. She said I have been following you (I knew that, she was in a range Rover). Bythe the way she she pulled in front of me as if to leave the motorway at J4 M57, so I pulled out into the middle lane to let her go. She changed her mind and took off after me. Flashed me, I stopped and walked to her car. She said you were speeding at over 100 mph. Rubbish, I had my mum and an who are not spped freaks in Ford Puma. She said stopped youbecause you shoud not over take a Police Car? If you accepted this fixed penalty ticket we will leave it at that. Contest it and we will have to go court and I will tell them your true speed! Time of event 1440. I was not even exceedin 70 mph. Advice on definition of code 622 x speeding pls. Thanks cyrilbiker.

Thanks Ethel and Nhozu. You have both confirmed my feelings about the occurrance and how 100 mph + is an instant ban. I am off the police station with my producer now and hopefully an explanation of the code 622. I do not intend to leave it as it stands anwers are required. I wil keep you informed of the outcome. Thks again Cyrilbiker
Be careful, the police car probably had a calibrated speedometer which would afford the police the corroboration required t prosecute excess speed.
The 622 MAY refer to the distance travelled - ie speed measured at 622 yards - ultimatley the code really doesn't affect the outcome does it.
100mph + does not mean an automatic ban -its a myth.

thats strange,i was stopped on the m57 on 7-4-09 at the asda end by a lone male officer, when asked how fast i thought i was going i said 70 as all police traffic cars are recorded,he said he clocked me doing 117mph on a digital readout by the side of the seat ,same with you i was asked if i was willing to take the 60 quid fine and the 3 points,I welcomed it as the car i have will do just under 200 and i wasnt far off it so does this mean that there just making it up as they go along? and yes i there was only me and the car behind me on that strech of the motorway as i wouldnt have put my foot down if there had been any traffic in front of me
