I am looking to buy some items on ebay-maily childrens trainers which are very expensive in sports shops but are a lot cheaper on ebay.
I have come across a seller and would like to know if anyone can verify the goods are genuine as a lot of items dont have boxes supplied with them.
I ask this because I have been told in the past that a lot of goods sold on ebay are in fact fake.
I am unsure as to whether or not I can include the sellers name on this post?

Thanks in advance

Difficult.

The seller is breaking the law as she is a business seller and is not giving the full address anywhere in the listing as required to under the Distance Selling Regs.
Also she charges a restocking fee - again illegal and she states if the goods are returned, the refund will be minus all postage costs and eBay fees. Again illegal.

She also wants payment within 3 days. This is against eBay rules which gives the buyer 7 days.

All of this would put me off buying. I have passed the link to somebody I trust for their opinion re the fake.

Her feedback is good though, two negs in 12 months and no mention of fakes.

Ok thanks for having a look for me.
I would hold off if that is the case and will wait to see what other answers I may get on the matter.
Another thing that puts me off is the use of stock photos.

She hasn't taken the photo herself so you don't know that 'what you see is what you get'.
Sorry if I've gone on a bit about the legal side of the listing, but I am an active campaigner for Consumer Rights and it does annoy me when sellers try to bend the law to their advantage.

Sorry to ask this if it seems silly but how do you know it's a female seller?
I don't. It's obviously a company with the quantity they have for sale.

I wasn't trying to mislead.

Ah sorry, I thought there was a reference to an individual or something.
My friend has got back to me and we are both undecided as to whether those trainers are genuine.

It's up to you, but with her terms and conditions I would shop elsewhere.

I am thinking of sending a link of this to the seller in the hope he or she will revise their terms. :)

Could be a good thing if they are not doing things correctly.
I will have a look elsewhere but as you said earlier there is no mention of fake goods in the feedback so I am inclined to think they may be ok?
They may be, but a lot of people seem to like buying fakes, simply because they are cheaper.

Are they current styles?
sorry to butt in! I tried on a pair of these running shoes just yesterday in a sports shop. I think they were 40 or 50, and they do look just the same.
They would look the same, sara, because it is a stock photo, taken from the web.

It is not necessarily what the seller is in possession of.

And fakes do look like the real thing in a photo, anyway.
fair point, Ethel. I never really considered that they might send something other than what was in the photo.

how naive am I??!
Well, sara - any seller could do that. But I do prefer to see a photo that has obviously been taken by the seller - that way I know they at least have had the item I am looking at in their possession.

ANY seller who makes those conditions about deducting postage and eBay fees from any refund has got to be avoided.
i'd ask for more photos of the item and actually ask if its fake, and whether you can return them. if they dont answer, they probably dont want you to know what they know
Ask the following questions.

1. Ask for the model number from the tag.
2. Ask for pics from another angle.

Both of these requests are completely legitimate and any reasonable seller will provide them forthwith. If the seller can't / won't. Avoid.
