It is perfectly safe provided you take precautions - use reputable sites, use a credit card that has a low credit limit (one of my cards has a 25k limit which I never use online).
My credit card company asks for a password every time I shop online - if I don't enter that password, or enter it incorrectly, the card is blocked immediately. The seller NEVER gets to see that password.
If you use the card abroad it is useful to be aware of any duties payable when the goods are delivered.

toatally agree with you that you must keep all your funds, credit card in a safe mode... but i still can not understand how you know that the site is secured, safe and so on?! Any big site, any respectable one, can have someone who will simply sell the credit card database or something like this or get hacked... There are no guarantees!?!
No - but by using reputable sites in the UK, spending over 100, adhering to the terms and conditions of my credit card company - yes, I do read and understand the small print - and taking good care then I know I have redress from my credit card company.
UK law can help with contracts made in the UK, not necessarily the case when buying outside the UK.

one try and if everything goes ok, i'll continue, if it doesnt work... i can easily put a password, as you said before... or even change this card, without problems....
The above is my kinda strategy... I won't use a cc with >10k on it to make an online transaction, too... i won't even buy something in a regular shop with such a cc... only for the bank use... it is evident...
...still looking for some sites...
