Best Baby in the World label
0 Answers
I have a half-remembered image in my mind that I cannot locate and it's driving me mad. Help! In which book did the following scene occur: the protagonist is a girl who goes into a room which is full of babies in cribs. Every baby has a label attached to it saying something like "Best Baby in the World". The girl thinks that is ridiculous because some of the babies are sick, some are ugly, some are crying, etc and then another character (adult?) tells her that it makes perfect sense because the labels have all been written by the babies' mothers.I think it is from a victorian children's novel - but I cannot remember which one!
