I'd like to buy a Bon Voyage and Good Luck gift for a very dear friend who is emigrating to Australia. It needs to be small because of packing. I don't want to give her photo's as she's taken loads. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

what about a nice digital photo frame then for her to put them in?
What about something typically british such as a cast iron red letter box or a red double decker bus?
A friend of our recently went to live in Hong Kong and we were having the same problem when we came across something which was pretty unusual. In the local evening paper they were selling lovely glass coasters which were etched with local beauty spots/bridges etc. These were small enough for her to take with her and she has said it was a lovely present as she uses them daily and they hold fond memories of home. They also sold tankards/glasses etc with similar etchings. Hope this was of some help :~)
What about something local to the area you are from? Are there any local jewelers that produce using local stones that you could get a nice pair of earrring or something? Being scottish I quite often by things made from Shetland silver.

Or what about local glass or something. I know there is a lot of tat about, but a discerning look in the local tourist shops may give you some ideas.

Thank you all for your answers - I like the idea of something local i.e. the coasters and will look in the tourist information shop. Thanks again.
the local newspaper might be able to help - I know ours offers prints etc from the local area and some tea towels. maybe they would have something that could me made into coasters.
When my friend left for a foriegn country for good i got her an "emergency pack" consisting of a small tub with an international phone card, a pre written letter saying Help come and get me addressed to me, a spare pair of knickers, condom, safety pin etc - things she might need in an emergency
What a great idea bednobs, i love the letter addressed to you I think i might pinch that one myself!
