My Best Friend's Wedding is looming, so all this wedding talk has brought forward lots of bizarre talking points for us; we are strange in that respect. Lots of naff & lavatorial jokes have thus ensued.

Apparently in western cultures the ring finger is normally on the left because the vein in that finger is the vena amoris - directly connected to the heart. Some countries have the wedding band on the right finger; some even wear the engagement ring on the left & the wedding ring on the right.

I could go on to say what happens in Jewish and Indian traditions, but I won't because I'm bored now. I just wanted to play on the words annus probus. Sorry.

I use a finger on my right hand for my ring.

Jayne - we haven't done this for quite a while now. I just got the urge...
well I now dont have a wedding ring, having thrown it at hubby many years ago and losing it never to find it again, and he never offered to buy me another one either.
I have been in situations where I have had to use all four fingers,

Zac, I have come up with a perfectly legitimate question about wedding rings - how is that lowering any tones, it's a national institution is marriage, and a very serious subject ;-)

afcjan. I had to laugh. The same happened to my ring about 20 years ago. Mind you, I wouldn't want a replacement, I'm not a fan of wedding rings, engagement rings etc. I still have the same Mr LL though, bless him.
