Which of these digital cameras

I want to buy my wife a digital camera.

She liked the look of one in Tescos. I have searched on the net and found it: Samsung S1060 at �129 http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.205-3982.aspx

But I have also found Argos selling Samsung S1065 at �58.29 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumb er/5590649/c_1/1|category_root|Photography|121 09590/c_2/2|cat_12109590|Clearance+Photography |12745983.htm and it looks like it has the same spec.

Checked Samsung website. It doesn't show either.

Can anyone see a difference I haven't noticed that makes the Tesco one worth that much more?

I've offered her the choice.

Which would you choose and why?

if it's not the same it should be

I'd buy on price (I find tesco can be verrrrry pricey for electrics)
... the spec is either identical ... or similar enough for it not to matter

But I'm a fuji fan too

on a side issue ... given most people never pring bigger than a4 you don't need 10Mp
I'd swap a few pixels for the best optical zoom you can find
a 10x optical zoom on a 4Mp camera will produce better results than a 5x with 10Mp

my 3.2Mp fuji will take pikkies good enough to print at a4

10Mp will print to a0 ... and who does that more than once in their life?

About a month ago I had the same experience...I think the S1065 is propably made for argos with a slightly different model No... and that's why you dont find it at other retailers, or even on Samsungs site.
It looks exactly like the S1060... and even has the same spec.
I had the same dilema ...which camera for the wife...
after a great deal of research and finding out which one was easiest to use...I ended up at Argos, getting a Kodak... which was half the price of a very similar model, with identical spec... available at other retailers...

I know which one I'd go for...based on price alone.

The problem is the more you look..the more confused you become...

Get some decent re-chargable batteries and a 2-4 mp card....you can't go far wrong with AA batteries and an SD card.
Cameras and memory cards are so cheap now...
... and if she likes this photography thing...you can always upgrade...do a little bit of research on the camera review sites...and you will be sure to pick up information on what is good, and what is not so good....you can always sell your ''old digital'' on eBay......and be sure to mention it's high spec...identical to the S1060..!

I've used digital cameras (and film cameras) for ages.
Started with a "still video" camera and a digitiser to put the images onto a BBC computer in the 80's.

I know the features I find most important but my wife won't be told. I know I rarely shoot above 3Mp and have only used the 12Mp RAW version with my digital SLR on a couple of occasions. But she insisted the Samsung 10Mp she saw in Tescos was the one which is why I've shown her the Argos spec and am, hopefully, changing her mind to the Fuji (though I'd like a better optical zoom range on the same (physical) size camera. If it takes SDHC cards so much the better (I have a few 8Gb around). And if it can take rechargeable AA (or AAA) batteries - or at a pinch (if necessary) alkalines.
