Royal Mail Query - Large Item

Hi

My dad is wanting to post a rocking horse up to me that is 24kg, 110cm heigh, 125cm long and 30cm wide.

i've been on the royal mail site and it looks like i can send something of that weight for around �32. but i cant figure out if those sizes will be okay

has anyone had a big parcel delivered and how much has it cost?

Well, if you don't know me, I'm a postman, and believe me, we have had some weird large parcels in the past.

Tha's too large or heavy for a Royal Mail service.

You can use Parcelforce. If you use the Parcelforce service via this site:

http://www.senditnow.com/index.epl

it is cheaper than booking on the Parcelforce site and it gets collected and delivered.

i live in shetland. sometimes its worth just getting the haulage companies to take it up

my mum got a small chair posted up for �14. it was a home made mini couch for a child. it was a smallish box but heavy. thought i'd best check out royal mail since she got that sent so cheap

that parcelforce website is brilliant. entered in the weight, my postcode and came up with a price

go back to the parcel force site and re-price it with a weight of 68.75kg

Thats what the volumetric weight is for your parcel and what you'll actually be charged for it.

I was not aware that Parcelforce use volumetric weights for something that is being delivered within the UK.
