The actual wording seems to vary slightly from one hotel chain to another but all of the ones I've checked refer to bed and breakfast rates (i.e. not 'room only'). These are examples from the Tesco website:

"Only valid on the Ramada Jarvis Flexible Bed and Breakfast rate"

"Tokens valid on Leisure Break B&B and Leisure Weekend Break B&B rates only" (Best Western)

"Only valid on Hilton Hotels' Best Available Bed & Breakfast rates"

"Only valid on Novotel Hotels' Bed and Breakfast rates"

To check the rules for the hotel group you're considering staying with, hover your cursor over 'Hotel breaks' here

and select the relevant group. On the next screen, click 'More'

Thanks a lot Chris. The thing is that most of the restaurants that offer x4 times the value of Tesco clubcard vouchers are already offering 50% off food and 2 for 1s regularly, so it is not worth converting the vouchers into pizza express ones for example. In addition, you cannot use the vouchers towards drinks which sucks.

With the hotels, it is hard for me to choose between the various chains and I wonder how much more I would have to chip in for 1 night at say The Hilton, if converting 10 pounds of vouchers into 40 pounds to spend there.

What do you usually do Buenchico? Do you convert your vouchers into x4 times or just spend it on shopping at Tesco?

Hopefully you will look in here again Buenchico
Hi Ed

This bit won't be particularly helpful but at least it proves that I do read your responses ;-)

Up until now I've always spent my Tesco Clubcard vouchers solely, at their face value, on food. (Being unemployed, there have been times when I've only had a tenner, or even a fiver, for a week's food. So any supplement has been extremely welcome!)

I've got a few unused Clubcard vouchers at the moment, which I think I'll probably use to treat myself to a few bottles of wine, because Tesco are currently doubling the value of any vouchers exchanged, in store, for wine tokens.

Chris

PS:
I suggest phoning the relevant hotels to find out what you'd actually have to pay when using your vouchers. (The figures you'd get from their websites might be misleading, as they might include discounts which you wouldn't get when using the vouchers). You need to be aware that some hotel chains charge 'mega bucks' for their 'basic' (non-discounted) rates. For example I was trying to help a stranded rail customer, 5 or 6 years ago, who needed 'short notice' accommodation for one night. I phoned 52 hotels but none could provide accommodation within her budget of 80 to 100 per night. The local Holiday Inn wanted over 130 on a 'room only' basis!
