Protest at ASDA Rochdale
42 Answers
There's going to be a big protest tomorrow at Asda in Rochdale because of the issue of that girl with the wrist band supporting the British troops. In case you weren't aware, a girl went to the check out and an Asian lad wouldn't serve her because he said he objected to her wrist band advocating support for British troops. Loads of people are now shopping at Tesco instead, and the Rochdale branch of Tesco are offering free wrist bands in support of British troops. Immigration? Multi-culture? Tolerance? Do me a favour!!

He is there to do a job and being paid to do it, he does not have the right to refuse to serve his emploters customers, only the store management in conjunction with the police and the local authority can exclude members of the public from the open door policy.
I will be wearing a poppy to work tomorrow, which is more than ever now a symbol of support for our troops, I have not yet had any adverse comments or objections from any customers, I have not been given any guidance on how to respond should that happen, but I know that if anyone complains about it i shall refer them to our Prime Minister without resitation.

I think it is a digrace that he refused to serve her. he should not have the right to pick and choose. Just imagine the fuss he would have made if she had refused to let him serve her, because he wasn't a christian.

Notice Asda seem to be sticking their heads in the sand!

The Asda Supervisor who allegedly 'backed' the chack out operative was incorrect, the member of staff was not entitlked to his opinion, he represents the opinions of his employer and if this incident did happen as reported and as claimed by the woman, he brought his employer into disrepute and he will be dismissed. The 'supervisor' and the check out person seem to have faded into obscurity and ASDA are trying to back track.

Is it not a wee bit odd that Asda is trying to identify the staff member involved still? The woman involved said elsewhere she has shopped at Asda for twenty years. She may not always have shopped at the same Asda store but would she not have some idea who the staff were, by face if not by name? They would know who the supervisors were at the time so it would be easy enough to work out who it was.
If I make a complaint face to face, I ask for or make a note of the name of the person I'm speaking to, so why did she not do the same? Was there no-one else who seen or heard the incident? Could it be it never happened or that the facts are not as reported?
