Damage to brand new furniture
Hi, hope this is the right section. I recently purchased a new leather suite from SCS. When it was delivered, one of the delivery men cut the leather in an obvious place whilst removing the packing. This was reported within 24 hours of the suite being delivered. An inspection was carried out and i've received a letter today telling me they have ordered a new covering and will fit it to the frame when it arrives. Having paid nearly £3K for this and waited 12 weeks for delivery (made in Italy), i'm a bit miffed that it is being repaired.
Can I reject the repair in favour of a replacement and can I claim for the inconvenience of taking 2 days off?

Hi Eddie51. That's my concern. If they don't do as good a job and in the future the repaired sofa will start to look different from the other one. SCS have alredy said it will be out of warranty by that time so they would not be able to help. I'm pushing back against a repair. Waiting on them to get back to me now.
It's too late now but you should have inspected the furniture with a fine toothcombe on delivery and when you spotted the tear in the leather, refused to have accepted the item concerned and not signed the delivery note. I think you would be within your rights to refuse to accept a repair for a brand new item which was damaged in this way. Have you consulted the Trading Standard Officer at your local council for advice?
