MM Links Solutions February 2010 [Week 4]
14 Answers
This final week in the reign of “Prince Philip” (aka centrino) turned out to be a real beanfeast with points flying right, left and centre. Will the Sacred Abacus survive the multitude of points that resulted from the theme of “Home Alone”, where his majesty PP chose the following Links:
Shopping BASKET
Bargain HUNT(ER/ING)
PUBLIC House
Clean SWEEP
In the game that followed, I will treat the three options under “Bargain” as etymologically equivalent and equally correct. This decision is consistent with previous rulings.

This is an incredible achievement! Perhaps he preferred “Basket” to “Trolley” to reflect a shorter shopping list (?)
He was immediately followed by beejay1124 who was hoping for a CLEAN SWEEP, but picked up only TWO POINTS. He was soon eclipsed by jan1956 who matched his Clean Sweep but also declared herself to be a BARGAIN HUNTER to pick up well-deserved FOUR POINTS. With three of the Links discovered, the scene was set for fordward to cash in with all three Links with the clock standing at only 09.02am. Accordingly, this performance was worth SIX POINTS and brought the title of HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK. However, there is still a more important monthly title to sort out!
In the next minute, a bonus point was picked up by roslyn251254, Dustybun, ulysses100, cliffyg & slaney (each scoring Two Points), but double whammies were scored by x-ray & joto (each scoring Four Points). For the next 12 minutes, there was a hiatus in the entries until middlestump continued extended their scoring spree (with One Point).
Thereafter, we had to wait for Entrant #26 to open the PUBLIC HOUSE (for a Sunday pre-lunch tipple?) ~ Who else but wickedtongue! Since he also had “Bargain Hunter”, he qualified for THREE POINTS. During the wind-down of what had been a busy game there were amongst the single-point scorers, double hits made by seekeerz, patchett, grannydi & deecee131 (well done to you all).

The League Table after this final week in February is:
ELEVEN POINTS: Strix
NINE POINTS: jan1956
EIGHT POINTS: fordward
SIX POINTS: joto
FIVE POINTS: middlestump & patchett
FOUR POINTS: Aquagility, beejay1124, Dustybun, rockfordill, roslyn251254, tearinghair, wickedtongue & x-ray
This Table contains some high scores for a four-week month!
Who will be invited to be “The (Mad) March Setter” will require serious thought!
Since both Strix & jan1956 have been MM Links Champions in the fairly recent past, I am led to invite forward to accept the March Crown and set the Link Words throughout the next month.

Congratulations to Strix for his high scoring during February ,we must be on the same wavelength. Also to Fordward for being
selected as Links setter for March.I entered February with great trepidation but i need not have worried because of the help
and guidance given by Crofter made it really enjoyable.Sometimes whilst at work i would nip down to the local Internet
cafe to see how things were going.
Again many thanks to Crofter and to all the Linkers who supported me during the month.
Carry on Linking and i should be on the other side of the fence next week.

Thanks Prince Philip for the interesting month and crofter for your unceasing efforts, although no points yet again this week!
Congratulations Strix for topping the leaderboard, even though you're going for the other end of the board with KM links.
We all look forward to the next month whoever the links setter is.

Thank you for a very entertaining month, and as always, thanks to crofter as well.
