Birkenstock Repair

I have recently bought some new birkenstocks and noticed in the leaflet that comes with it that they say never throw them away as the leather/suede bit you out your foot on (hope that makes sense) and also the PVA sole can be replaced.
Does anyone have any experience of having this done. THe shoes get more and more comfortable the longer you have them so would love to be able to replace the bits rather than keep buying new ones (which i have done every summer)
Also where would i take them to get this repair? I am in surrey, on edges of South London
