Hello everyone!

Has anyone here used an epilator? Are the results better than shaving? Is it as painful as I think it could be??

I saw an advert for the new Braun one that's half price at the moment and it had some pretty impressive selling points. Just want to see if anyone though it was worth it? http://www.braun.com/...tors/silk-epil-7.html

I have an epilator and find it very good when I do use it. Although I don't think it works so well on my legs (I don't feel as smooth as when I shave so end up with legs that are 'sort of smooth' for the next few weeks) but the other big area I do is my arms and it's brilliant for that.

I wouldn't go anywhere near my bikini line with it... Or rather I did and I won't again!
I use one on my legs and it can be sore to start with, but as you get used to using it that eases. As CD says, it's not as close as shaving so I have been known to shave too if I'm going somewhere. I use it on my bikini line too and again, it's sore to start but less so as you go on. It does mean you don't get a shaving rash which I'm prone to and the hair is much softer when it comes back in. Don't try it on your underarms though - it makes a sound like denim ripping and is fecking agony!!!!
It made water come out of my eyes when I did my bikini line... Mind you, I also did my hoo-hoo with it at the same time which didn't help... never again! :c(
Oh no! Steer clear of the hoo-hoo!!!! ;)
Oh believe me I've never done that again! In fact I can now plait it...
Rapunzel Rapunzel, let down your....maybe not :)
Ewwwwww!! Lol! That comment is worthy of being something the man hostage would say!
I cleaned it up for on here :)
Jesus Christ, women... go nair yourselves.... ;-)
Nom, I ended up with a nasty chemical burn on my undercarriage thanks to Nair - and I had a big weekend planned :(
Don't be a spoilsport NM... I'm growing it so if my back hair ever starts receding I can do a comb over...
I've applied when it's been too hot, once or twice. Now I test it on the back of my hand.

lol

There's nothing worse than putting it on your lula and it scalds..
Ach, no one sees mine anymore anyway so I tend to go for the winter pelt :)

Thanks guys - I think I may give it a go, pay day tomorrow and all that.

What about waxing? I've heard that waxing hurts more if you've previously shaved? xx
Oh My God Chinadoll You must of been in serious pain??!! Ouch.
I have a braun one Mcvj and I think it's good, I alternate between the epilator and razors.
I use hair removal cream to be honest rather than wax or epilate... I keep threatening to go for a wax but wuss out everytime. Wish they made removal cream for 'sensitive' areas though, can sometimes sting a bit.
Take it from an avid waxer... when you get used to it (takes 12 months or so) and you time it right (to coincide with the monthlies) it's not all that bad.
I still get misty eyed having my eyebrows threaded, no way I'm doing 12 months, I've not committed any crime that hideous! ;0)
But there's nothing worse than regrowth after shaving or creaming. *Shudders*
The 'lula' area is very delicate. Won't pulling wax off there rip some of the skin / flesh? Gosh, you people are brave!

I do wax from my legs and underarm areas, but, 'lula' I'm scared.
