You've not stated what version of Windows you're using but with XP it's simply a matter of putting the OS disk into the drive, selecting 'Install Windows' and then 'Update installation'.
I write from experience because I've just fixed a major problem on my PC, which was refusing to recognise the router - so I couldn't get online - and denying the existence of any restore points for System Restore. In desperation I shoved the Windows disk into the drive and, hey presto, I'm back online with my PC back to normal.

Hi Denise
If you could get hold of a copy of Glary Registry Repair which is a free program and install it and run it . It should correct a lot of your errors . You may have to get someone to download it and put it on a disc or USB stick and install it that way. If your computer came with XP reinstalled you should still be able to create your installation recovery discs but they wont do the repair that Chris has suggested only a genuine full copy of XP from Microsoft will do this and you can't buy them anymore. You may have to do a clean installation from a geniune copy or initiate a recovery from your preinstalled Windows.
