Does anyone know please, is Advance Products still in existence at 141B High Road Loughton, Essex IG10 4LT? Does anyone know of their whereabouts if they are no longer there and is there a telephone number? The one given on their website is 020 3011 2902. I am told by a BT machine that that number is not recognised. I have bought a second hand bike and I need to contact Advance Products who sold it. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you ...Moyra A Borg

sorry typo I mean Advance Products in Loughton Essex
Have you tried 020 8 instead of 020 3? 020 is a London number so I thought they were only followed by 8 or 7
Advance Products home page isn't loading images from the server:
http://www.advanceproducts.co.uk/
The dates at the bottom of that page suggest that it hasn't been updated for two years.
Trying to access any secure web page on that site results in a warning that the security certificate is out of date.
The terms and conditions page makes no reference to the company being 'limited' (or that 'Advance Products' is a trading name of another limited company) and the Companies House website lists 'Advance Products Ltd' as being a clothing manufacturer in Dewsbury. That suggests that the 'Advance Products' you refer to is, or was, a private trader.
Nominet's 'WHOIS' directory shows that 'advanceproducts.co.uk' is registered to an Ian Burrowes who has kept his contact details hidden by claiming that he's a non-trading individual. (That's both illegal and unethical for a bona fide trader to do).
Churchill Property Management Co Ltd is currently trading from 141b High Street, Loughton according to this page:

You've already told us that the phone line is dead.

It would seem safe to say that Advance Products no longer exists (if it ever really did).

OK, no joke, I live in Loughton. Can't answer directly because I very rarely go down that end. 141B is set off the road down an alley, so is not visible just walking or driving by.

However, that alley has never been very succesful for businesses, and they often fold. Chances are if you are getting nowhere, they no longer exist. Best I can suggest (as an ex postman for the area) is you write to that address, if a redirection exists it will be forwarded, though of course even if it does, the addressee doesn't have to let you know that.

I have messaged a colleague asking him to have a look, but it's not something they are supposed to divulge, so don't expect too much.
and the above is right about the phone number. it should be 020 8508 or 8503 (assuming a BT number). If that number is or was genuine it was on a non BT line.

Sorry, Postdog (and 237SJ), London has had 0203 numbers for ages:
http://news.bbc.co.uk...nd/london/4600621.stm
I'm bored tonight so I had a look at the map - the sign over the alley is for a computer shop:-

Computer Repair Shop‎
141 High Rd
LOUGHTON,
Essex
IG10 4LT
020 8502 5900

If you can't get any more information about your bike shop you could probably ask at the computer shop - if it's still there.

Good luck.

Oh thank you all so much. I had rung the local post office there funnily enough as I know that posties know so much! I had also looked up the company name in the companies register. Yes you are right though, the security warning message made me think and I did also see the date at the bottom of the website. :-( Still, I believe I have a really good quality bike and will hope to get a clever bicycle mechanic to give me a new starter unit and key. If he can't do that I will just have to remove its lead acid battery and pedal it! I will keep you all in touch through an answer to this question when or if I ever get the Advance electric bike going as it should. I have a lead acid battery charger from my other electric bike and am wondering if I can use it to charge up this new lead acid battery. The engine on my other bike gave up working as I am nearly 16 stone which is about 100 kilos and that sounds even heavier going into three figures. Thank you all very very much for all your kindness. :-) Aryom Grob

I've made an Advance! The lovely men in the bike shop have taken the barrel and key off my old bike and fitted it to my new Advance bike. I haven't even been out on it yet, I've been too busy every day. It works though, which is wonderful. I've been round the block on it! :-)
