They've had so many problems integrating all the banks that they've taken over that their customer service seems to have become non-existent and it will probably be a long long time before they've got their systems integrated and offer anything like a decent service.
I`ve got accounts with Santander (two Alliance & Leicester ones and one Bradford and Bingley plus my mortgage). I must admit I`d heard about their crap service but I can`t say I`ve had any complaints. When I have spoken to them, they`ve been ok. I find it harder to get to speak to someone at Lloyds to be honest.
I first opened an account, years ago with Abbey National, subsequently Abbey and now
Santander.
In all this time I have found them ( the staff in branch ) to be very friendly and helpful.
My only problems, were,a few years ago when I had to deal with an Indian call centre.
I,m sorry, but more often than not I could not understand them.
Perhaps it was the distance !
Santander.
