I don't think it is the collar of the shirt, but the style.
They are going from the collar and tie, with tunic to a paramilitary top that is altogether different to the traditional uniform.
I think it looks more practical, but does make them look more alarming and unapproachable.

Black is more slimming, so I would support any move to the colour.

I saw two pictures, side by side in the Daily Mail earlier today, and the police officer in the black shirt definitely looked more attractive.

Am I missing something here? So, what specifically might the comparison be between our gallant Police Forces and shirts of the same colour(nothing more) worn by a Facist organisation in the 1930s?

Mosley and his mob of thugs certainly did not "catch on" any more than some of the equally vicious left wing hooligans who opposed and fought with them on the streets of Britain at that time.

Yet another Daily Mail piece of mischief to try and twist Sir Paul's objections which are merely based on all Forces dressing in a uniform manner. His references to the para military look would surely have more of a modern day ring to it anyway, rather than comparison with a band of ne'er-do-wells from 70 odd years ago.
