Disneyland Paris - are there any supermarket type shops?

I'm thinking about taking my children to Disneyland Paris in March. I've done a search of this site and got some really useful info about the cost/type of food available. It seems as though most restaurants are quite pricey (£10 for a burger, £5 for a can of Coke) and that you are not allowed to take your own food into the park. Can anyone who has been recently (i.e. in last six months) confirm this? Do they really search your bags? We'd be staying at one of the Disney hotels (Cheyenne), are there any normal shops/petrol stations nearby that sell bread, crisps etc or are you pretty much forced to buy everything from cafes? how are you getting there? could you take some in your suitcases?

We'd be flying, taking three lots of hand luggage and one big case between the four of us so will definitely take some things that don't need refridgerating. But we'd be going for five days so things like bread won't last. Apart from Pot Noodle type stuff (and apparently there are no kettles in room!) there aren't many meals that don't need a fridge and taste okay. And taking your own food doesn't really help if they search you at the gates and take it all.

i didnt stay at the Cheyenne so cant comment of whether there is a kettle there but there was in our room and thomas Cook's explorers hotel.

There are no sup[ermarkets on the park, theres a petrol station nearby and also a shopping centre one stop on on the Eurostar which may have. I would also expect the crocket ranch to have a supermarket nearby but thats not within walking distance of park


We went in september. We took lots of snack, crisps, biscuits etc plus coffee and cupasoups (if needs be why not take a travel kettle)
At breakfast we made up sandwiches etc to take in our bags and had picnics in the gardens at front of main gate. There were also plenty of shops selling snacks inside the park.

I dont think the prices were as high as you say, but you could also look at maybe getting the halfboard options and booking restaurants for each day. The all you can eat buffets are great and can really fill you up.

we did have bags searched at gates, but at no point did anyone remove food that we had - and all the kids had lunchboxes and flasks which were not queried at all

We took our two many years ago and I can't remember it being massively more expensive than other resorts. I do recall that because it was the first Disney Park in Europe, they allowed alcohol to be served in certain places in the Park, something which I think is a no no in the US.

A few years ago there was a deli type shop in the commercial bit ouside the parks (can't remember what it was called). It was quite reasonable for sandwiches. MacDonalds is usually packed as it is the only affordable place. I can't remember being checked for food and drinks on the way into the parks, I usually carry cereal bars and mars bars with me!

I've stayed at the Cheyenne...and the big log cabin looking hotel...and the one that has the indoor/outdoor pool.

Although Cheyenne was the furthest away from the park I preferred it to the others. I don't remember food being very expensive either but it was a few years back now.

And they have horses that come round...which the kids loved. Thank God...because my son hated every disney character.

I wasn't impressed Dris. Although it looks lovely and like a fairytail...the rides weren't that great.

Alton Towers is better..
