Things to be aware of:
We all know there is no such thing as a free lunch, so keep this in mind when looking for a new credit card as there are likely to be some drawbacks to look out for.
You should always bear in mind that the reduced rate does not apply to new spending, only to the transferred balance. Some firms also ignore the first year's annual fee for new customers with a certain amount in their bank account, so it may be an advantage to apply for a credit card in an account that holds a substantial amount of your money.
Be aware that most, if not all credit cards will charge you if you miss the monthly deadline set for your payment, this amount won't be more than £12, which doesn’t seem a huge amount but may still hinder you being able buy that new handbag you were planning to purchase.
The easiest and most efficient way to avoid penalties is to set up a Direct Debit from your current account to your credit card to pay off at least the minimum amount each month, this way you don’t have to try and remember to do it each month. You should also be aware that you will be charged if you go over your credit limit, as well as being charged interest immediately on a new purchase if you didn’t pay off your last bill in full.
