Online Shopping
Online shopping is a perfect way to get your weekly groceries if you cannot make it to the supermarket, for whatever reason.
Some people prefer the ease of having the shopping delivered to their door at a time that suits them; others use this service because they struggle leaving the house or have health problems that can affect
Either way, online shopping is easy, fast and reliable and can save a lot of effort and time.
What do I need to do my grocery shopping online?
Online shopping is really easy – all you need is a credit card and a computer connected to the internet and you’re ready to begin shopping.
Most major supermarkets will require you to sign up to their services, so you will need to register your email address and your billing address so your shopping is delivered accordingly.
Once you are signed up some supermarkets will provide you with an option to register your rewards scheme information, so Tesco will allow you to add your clubcard and Sainsbury’s will provide someone to enter your nectar card information. This means that you will still be rewarded even if you make purchases online.
Once all of your information is entered correctly you can begin shopping!
How do I place items into my shopping basket?
OK, so now you’ve got the registration out of the way it’s time to get down to business. To look for products you can either perform a search or browse each category on the website. For example, if you wanted to buy milk you would first click on the website’s dairy section then add milk to your shopping cart from there. Conversely you can search for a product specifically, say “Heinz Baked Beans” and you would then be taken to a page populated by that product.
From here you can click on an item to view a description then add it to your basket, choosing the quantity or weight of the item you want.
All of the items placed in your shopping basket should appear on the right hand side of your screen, making it easy to see if you have added an item you don’t want or if you’ve accidently over-ordered something.
How do I know if the store has my item in stock?
Unfortunately it is impossible to tell if the exact item you want is in stock or not, so most supermarket delivery services will offer you alternatives when they arrive at your doorstep. The alternatives are as close to the product as the shop assistants can find and if they are more expensive you will not be charged for it. You then have a choice on whether you want to accept the alternatives or not – if you decide that you don’t want the alternatives you are refunded the amount you originally spent on those products.
What do I need to do for the Check-Out process?
Now all you need to do is enter you payment details, choose a delivery time and order your groceries. This will take you only a couple of minutes and is a very simple process to complete.
Make sure you pick a delivery time when you know that you’re going to be around, as you don’t want to be rushing home to meet the delivery man!
