Selling on Ebay..?

Afternoon all, hope you're all having a lovely day so far.

Ok, I need some help from you Ebayers out there if I may please! lol.

Recently I returned to an old hobby of mine, making personalised, hand painted pictures on glass frames (and I'm loving it!), for special occasions ie 21st birthday, New Baby, Good Luck etc etc..

A few have gone to friends and family as gifts, who have all been delighted with them, and suggested I try selling them on Ebay, saying they'd do well beings they're personalised etc, and would make nice presents..?

Soo, I nervously/excitedly plucked up the courage the other night and set up an account on there and listed a handful of my paintings
(it took me HOURS! lol)

The only thing is, I don't seem to have had any 'views' yet!
So I'm wondering if maybe I'm doing something wrong, due to having No experience whatsoever with selling on there!
Orrr, are people ''wary of buying from a new seller with No/low feedback..?

I've listed them as a Buy it now (not auction) And they're up for 30 days, and as far as I know I've written a decent 'description' with each one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated please, as I feel a little bit disheartened and would really love to sell a few bits of my work!

I don't think being a new e bayer will put people off. Check if your prices and postal charges are comparable with similar items.Are you registered with Paypal? Have you inserted a photograph of an item which you have painted. Good luck and don't be disheartened. Keep at it.

There could be a couple of things that affect you getting an audience....
One might be the nature of Ebay - maybe most ebay shoppers are looking for picture frame bargains rather than delightful craft items.
have you searched for similar objects on ebay? If you can find them, then maybe how they are worded / displayed will give you a pointer.
It might be good to also get yourself a presence on a site such as Etsy, which is specifically craft-oriented and so draws on an audience with definite expectations that are in your direction.....
Ebay can be a pretty blunt instrument

You might do better on ebay towards Christmas, or if you include wording like ideal Christmas / birthday / mother's day gift etc

I think/hope I'm charging accordingly - each painting takes about 3 to 4 hours, plus cost of paints and frame etc.
I weighed and checked the price of posting, 2nd class, and added a little extra for packing and buying a jiffy envelope, etc.
And I did look at other homemade similar items on there to see what they're charging, and I do think I'm asking a reasonable price.
And yep, I've posted up photos of each one, and they do look nice..
But, I've not even had a 'view'! lol ... ;o/

As Mosaic has said, because you "search" on ebay its hard to browse for unusual things. You need to add tags that will get people to at least look. Etsy is a good idea too. Its much more browsable and has options to look at newly listed items and new sellers.

I've looked on Ebay and there doesn't seem to be anyone making/selling things like I'm making, that's why I thought I might have a chance of doing well! lol ...

Ah yes, I've heard of 'Etsy', so I will take a look over there.

Yeah, Christmas would be a good time, however what I'm doing covers All occasions all year round,
plus they're personalised too, which makes them a little bit more special, for presents etc!
And I have got a few Christmas ideas up my sleeve IF my others were to be successful! - ideal for children, with their names on, or 'Babys first Christmas' kind of thing.
Looks like they'll be staying up my sleeve!.. lol..

I keep checking my page with baited breath... hoping... but alas..Nowt!! lol

You could also do with making yourself a webpage to accompany all your other online activity - the more presence you have, the more likely you are to catch someone's eye.

I'd not have a clue as to how to create a webpage, Mosaic! I'm not very clued up with that sort of thing.
Plus, I'm not very good at 'drawing attention to myself'... lol ...

Just had a look, looobylooo. they look very nice and the price looks reasonable to me.

They are great looby. You get to put 12 pictures on for free, so you need to make the most of that. People need to see your work in more detail, so photograph each one and add to the details... Good luck xxxx

Would it perhaps help if you could give the buyer a choice of frame.

Erm, well, there's a choice of a wooden look or a silver look!! lol ..
and come Christmas, I'd do a few on a red frame! .. lol ...

They're frames I've bought a few of, thinking they'd 'suit' most of my designs ... ready for the ' Big rush of orders!' .. LOL... lol...
