Hi, I'm wanting to knit something Halloween themed for my nephews, thought a pumpkin hat for the 7 week old at ghost mask for the 2 year old.

Has anyone got any good ideas for simple patterns and how I can get the ghost mast to be floaty at the bottom but still looking quite seamless rather than.say crocheting on (as I seem to have lost the knack).

Thanks for any help :)

I'm not quite sure what you mean for the mask by 'floaty at the bottom'? Are you starting at the chin and working up, and want to disguise the foundation row? If so, I suggest making a fringe by knotting on lengths of yarn.

Or if you are making it from the crown down to the chin then try ending with any of the edging suggestions you find in books etc

Or something like this, which is macrame and not crochet, is quite scary!

Thanks both :) Wow, that macrame is scary!!! Managed to get myself some orange wool earlier so can get cracking on the pumpkin hat.
