Absolute Radio have been running a lot of text competitions recently, with texts costing £1.50 to enter. I know it will depend on what there is to win, but how many entries do these sort of competitions attract ?
Last year they ran a 'pay your bills' competition, at £1.50 per text, offering a £1000 prize: http://absoluteradio.co.uk/competitions/pay-your-bills/ DJ Richie Firth later posted on Twitter, referring to 20,000 entrants: https://twitter.com/richiefirth/status/556018147778920448 I'll leave you to do the simple maths! ;-)
Although I would agree they must get enough to make it worth their while I did read once that they sometimes get a lot less than needed because everyone assumes they won't win so don't bother.
