Video using usb camera?
4 Answers
I have a camera that connects to the usb port of my computer (i think). It acts a bit like a digital camera, and I can take photos and stuff, but on the specs for it, it says you can capture streaming video too.
However, I can't. Whenever I get software (including webcam software) that will capture video, I can't, because the software can't find the camera. The only software it seems to work on is Netmeeting and the photo capturing program that came with it. Neither of which can capture video.
Is there any software that will let me capture video with a usb camera, or a way to get webcam software to recognize the camera?

Have you gone to the manufacturers website to see if they provide a plug-in for this camera (or even explore the CD provided with the camera - assuming it came with one - to see if this extra feature is provided there?) It is often overlooked when installing a new gizmo to look at the "Extras" or similar folder on an installation disc. I always look at what other things a manufacturer includes on their installation CD's after installing the "default" software.................hope this helps.
Sorry, I was a bit unclear. Its a viewquest digital video camera. The only cd i seem to have concerning it is a driver CD. I can't find anything else on there. It came with the computer and it hasnt got it own instructions. It appears under TWAIN devices, and I can get images from paint shop pro. But when I use a program that can capture it always looks for a source from the TV card on my computer. I can capture TV movies, or movies off a VCR. But on all the programs ive tried I cant get the source from the camera
I had a similar problem, with a JVC camera i had. I gave up on it, and then when i went onto Microsoft XP, i plugged my camera to have another go. And XP recognised it straight away. Have been able to strip movies from it, use as webcam. The lot. Obviously the whole move to XP is abit extreme just for a camera, but it worked for me. Probally didnt help, but that was my 2p
