I'm thinking of doing some stencilling next time I decorate. Anyone know where I can suitable material for making stencils? I've read that Mylar is ideal, but I can't find it anywhere. I've asked in craft shops and stationers, but no luck so far.
Failing that, any material that is either plastic or nylon would do the job, as long as it is very flexible and not brittle, fairly heavy gauge, easily washable (for reusing), and can be cut easily with a craft knife or scalpel. It also has to be opaque so that I can see the details on the surface I'm working on and also clearly see the stencil outline. Again, I haven't been able to find anything to fit the bill so far.
Anyone know where I can get something suitable? By the way, I know I could use oiled card, and I may have to if I can't find the longer lasting plastic material.

I've just been out looking and a really helpful assistant in a stationery shop (The Stationery Box) found just the thing; A4 Clear Polypropylene Binding Covers. They're thick enough, and 'bendy' enough (won't crack and will cut nicely). Although they're marked 'clear', they're slightly opaque, so they're almost perfect for the job. Only 2.99 for 20, as opposed to over 1 a sheet (slightly over A4 size) at an art shop, and the quality was nowhere near as good. If any of you need stencil material, try this.
Thanks again, all of you!
