when i was little, my grandad was really into making these pictures by covering a board with black cloth, hammering nails into it like a join-the-dots picture, then using metallic thread to link the nails together to form a picture. several of my older colleagues at work all remember doing this when they were kids, but no-one seems to know what this pasttime was actually called. was it something you just made up as you went along or did you buy this thing like a kit? if anyone knows i'd be oh so happy! thanks!
Hi BeeVeeEn
I remember that form years ago. Long time!
Yes, they were sold in kit form and I think it was called String and Nail Art.
I am sure you can still buy them but no idea where. Probably craft shops or maybe even try Argos.
Happy memories.
Thanks all! i remeber helping my Grandad make a windmill on black cloth using really pretty multicoloured thread, really tactile to touch, i think they all got binned when my grandparents died. wish i'd kept them now!
Don't know if this will be any help but I use this in my card making and it's called ... SPIRELLI ... You can buy die cuts and threads for it. Have only seen it as circles, squares and triangles etc not specific shapes but they might be out there. xx
