I have been bellringing for a year or so and have gradually developed painful inner elbows. Are there any other ringers out there that the same thing has happened to and does it get better so I can start ringing again?

Never heard of that before.
Check with your Doc.
Maybe your technique is not quite right. Are you over pulling? or maybe ringing a bell which is too heavy or swings badly. Have other members of the Tower had the same problem?
Whatever you do, don't give up.

No-one else - just me! which you are right does sound like it could be my technique. I do vary from treble to fourth or fifth sometimes and I don't want to give up but am a bit wary of going back just yet. Thanks for reply
The longer you wait the harder it will be. Where do you ring? How many bells? etc. etc. E-mail me [email protected]
go to a chemist and get some 'elbow support tube bandages', they may help
also, has anyone looked at your technique?
perhaps you are 'yanking' sharply on the rope to start, rather than a firm but even pull...
perhaps ask a more experienced ringer to watch closely and correct any problems.
i don't know anything about bell ringing, but i have worked with some big machinery and have had elbow problems myself.

also, are you small? i heard of a small bell ringer who wore ankle weights just to give them some extra pull...
