I have been a member for 4 yrs now and if I'm ever at a loss for something to do, as well as having a question to ask, I always know I can spend my time on here. Are there any other websites, which would appeal to a large area of general interest, that I can equally get into? (Not an answerbank Q&A type of ebsite)

I can while away quite a bit of time on this website
http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/
It is geography based rather than having a general interest I suppose, but until I discovered it I had no idea where most of the US States were located, nor their capitals. And even though I'm British it is a while since I was at school so there are many new countries in Europe that I didn't really know the location of, nor their capitals. I have learnt so much since discovering sheppardsoftware, and a lot of what I have learnt has come in very useful on pub quiz night!

Thankyou Spudqueen, that is of interest to me!
I spend a lot of time on this site:

http://www.geograph.org.uk/

The aim is eventually to have photographed all of the British Isles. It is great for browsing and learning about the Ordnance Survey.

This site has kept me out of mischief (plus brain sharpened) for over 6 years and may do the same for you!
Try www.world-mysteries.com. I find it really interesting.
