Does anyone have a pattern for cotton knitted baby shoes please? I think that they are called lucy shoes with a little bar across the front and fastened with a button. If not does anyone know of a patern I can purchase?
Thank you.

I Googled for these and found that they seem to be called Mary Jane slippers, not sure if that's just what they call them in the US though. Anyhow I have found these instructions for you, hopefully you can adapt these if necessary.
How I made them:

I used chunky yarn and size 7 US needles.

-cast on 30 stitches
-knit for 7.5-8 inches in garter stitch -- eyeball it based on the length of your own foot, I wear a size 9-10 US
-k2tog for one row
-k2tog for another row
-cut off a remainder of yarn, and thread it through the stitches like a drawstring.
-fold your fabric in half and, using the remainder yarn, sew the edges together for about 3 inches.
-using the tail of your working yarn, sew up the vertical seam for the heel

To make the strap, I crocheted a double chain with a loop at one end. I sewed one end to the slipper, and sewed a button to the other side.
These are for babies.

It's a sportweight yarn which is eqivalent to our 4ply .

Thank you Shaneystar2 - the 2 pattern sites are brilliant. Really grateful to you for taking the time to send to me. xx
Hi Schutzengel. Lovely to hear from you and but iin anytime you wish. I've got all the ingredients at the ready and have been trying to source some silicone baking tins but given up so will be using my trusty old non stick ones on Saturday. Will get back to you as soon as baked and tasted as I can't wait to try it out. 2yr old and 3 yr old Grandchildren babysitting has prevented any baking this week for sure! xx
Dollychris. I use non-stick baking tins and they work fine, but if you remember, I did say to leave cake to cool in the tin and then run a sharp non-serrated knife around the sides before turning out. Hope you like the cake. Schutz.
Don't you know, ladies, that you can buy cakes already cooked and iced in the shops.

☺☺

Wolf63 - I know that you can buy cakes but not cakes that are as nice as homemade. This is the first time I have baked cakes in yonks so am justly proud of myself. Also this cake still tastes gorgeous after 3 days! The butter you spread on it isn't kind to the waistline though. Now don't you want to make one yourself ??
