My friend has just found one of the undated 20p coins in her purse (have checked news item and it is undated) .
What can she do to sell it at a good price
oh cool - I heard they were worth 50 but there has been one go on ebay for a couple of grand or something. It has to be one of the new design I was told. Is your friends the new design?
Be wary if anyone is thinking of buying one on ebay as there are a lot of con merchants doing this at the mo. They say, "20p coin undated on the Queen's head side". Sure but they don't mention that it's an old coin with the date on the tails side!
There was a big ad in yesterdays papers. The Royal Mint will buy them from you for 50, but you have to register first and it's only the first 10,000 and only one 20p per register.
Thanks for all the answers, we have been on to one of the top coin dealers and they are not buying. Gave a faint impression it may all be a scam. Said we may get 20 if anyone wants to by it for its uniqueness. We're going to hang on to it for a bit
Just looked on e bay and there are 2803 on offer. Ah well I've had my dream of a cruise
One went on e-bay yesterday for 7,600. Would suggest hanging on to it for quite some time, till the early rush is over. Early buyers generally just want to get their hands on the money, whereas genuine coin collectors buy them to keep. As there become less in circulation the price will go up. Those which are bought up by the Welsh minting company won't be going back into circulation, so that will remove quite a lot from the market.
Just to clarify neither the government or the bank of england are offering 50 for these coins as far as they're concerned they're legal tender. The London Mint are a private company dealing in coins - you would probably get a lot more these coins than 50
