Tracing Military Medals

My grandfather fought in WW1 and was awarded the DCM (LG 03/09/1918) and the Italian Silver Medal (Al Valore Militare) (LG 07/01/1919) for gallantry. I've researched them as far as I can but can I find out if they were ever sold in auction (about mid-80's). I'm 99.9% certain his eldest son (my cousin) sold them but won't say any more. I would like to buy them back for my mother who is obviously annoyed but doesn't show it. Thanks for any hints/clues. Hie name by the way - Sgt. William BOOTH. 20th Battalion, Manchester Regiment.

you can get certified duplicates with his number on them:

Download this form, fill it in and send it off, they are not replicas, they are official certified copies and will include the citations I believe

hi there...please let me know if you had any luck tracing the medal or getting a replacement. My Great grandfather was awarded the military medal for bravery in WWI but his nephew got hold of it and sold it which was deeply upsetting for the rest of the family. I contacted the MOD by they only seem to provide replacements for WWII medals onwards? any help much appreciated

Thanks for replies, no I didn't get antwhere. I think I'll contact auctioneers around Bournemouth where the son lives to see if they remember anything.
