The only thing I can suggest is that you telephone the Castle and speak to someone who has a sound knowledge of the history. It's a bit odd that it wasn't mentioned on the video - but perhaps no-one knows for sure.
The guide book I read, which had a few photos of the old Lulworth Castle, spoke also about the seven disastrous fires that occurred in country houses in the same year (1929)
I thought at the time they blamed slovenly electricification.
