Have you ever wondered what was the point in replying to a post when your answer is totally ignored? This happens frequently. Do some people only reply to those they know??

Who said that ?!?
Not necessarily coccinelle, I have been accused of such but in my case , ignoring is probably the best thing to do in certain cases, I have also tries to answer those who are nice enough to take part in a thread I put up, swings and roundabouts I think, even if I don't know a poster, of course I would reply to them :-)
Don't take is personally coccinelle; some threads take a lot of keeping up with and its not always possible to reply to everyone.

People who ask a question and offer no acknowledgment to their replies are dammed rude, but you won't be being ignored any more than the next person I'm sure.

I can quite understand ignoring a stupid answer or someone maybe chatting with someone else but to completely ignore it as if it wasn't there...

LOL OG
what do you mean?
have you asked a question and has it been ignored?
is this what you find on a personal level coccinelle, as Maidup has said, a lot of the time it isn't always possible to reply to everyone on a thread

Just me having a bit of a rant. No, these aren't long threads (I quite understand that there's no way you can keep up with some) maybe just two or three replies. The other(s) get comments but only yours doesn't. So as I say, you wonder was it worth answering in the first place.
I'm sure maidup that it doesn't only happen to me but it is annoying.
its the ones who get the AB to solve their entire crosswords, and say nothing.
it happens I'm afraid but hey!
you keep on putting 'em up kiddo :-)
quite often! I just move on to another post, I dont think its deliberate, I think the questioners often identify with specific replies more, maybe the replies that are more in keeping with what they are thinking when they ask the question.
I know what you mean coccinelle, there was a question asked once and three of us replied all with the right answer. Mine was the middle one, however the first and third were thanked, mine was ignored.

Yes, em10 I have seen that, I often wonder if some people become ABers thinking this is a puzzle solver site! I became an ABer due to a crossword question my (late) mother had and came across the site like that.
Thanks bobbisox; like I say a rant, sometimes you get a bit peeved off... by the way, I know weather isn't great up north that's where I'm from and my family live and will be over in a few weeks.
so am I oop Norf, let's get peeved together pet :-)

cazzz and vulcan, so I'm not the only one I'll watch out for your answers...!!!!!!
I think this has often been a complaint, especially in chatterbank where it's supposed to take a year to get accepted! I used to feel snubbed but now I agee with cazz, I don't think it's deliberate at all. It's just sometimes only the replies from posters you know jump out of the page at you.
Q&P is another matter, that's full of people who never acknowledge answers IMO.
bugger!!!
now I want Maltesers prudie...arghhhh!
The speed which some posts move, it's very easy to overlook a reply if it's four or five posts up - and if several people are posting at once, several pop in while one person is typing. It doesn't really bother me.
sorry bobbi - I've got a family bag in the fridge too!

Hi Prudie, it's not very often I give answers in Chatterbank these are usually threads with lots of posts so of course you can't answer everybody. Yes, I do see questions and lots of answers sometimes with no acknowlegement from the poster. This is not what I'm ranting about (and it is only a rant), some ABers seem to ignore people they don't know, that's all and why I asked the question do you sometimes wonder why you answered the question!!!!! Hey, rant over. I'll be more picky and choosy who I give answers to in the future. LOL
arhhh want some, NOW!!!
Don't let it put you off, coccinelle - I certainly don't confine my answers only to people I "know" and I don't think many others would do so deliberately.
