Career advice for web developer
My friend is a web developer designing and updating the intranet for a large blue-chip company, and has asked me for some career advice. He has been in the role for 2 years and is on 17k, but he thinks that his salary is too low.
He knows that there is more money to be made elsewhere (especially if he commutes to London), but he thinks the experience he is gaining from this large company is invaluable. At what point does he say he has enough experience? Does anyone have any advice?

They could do this in two ways. 1)look up vacancies advertised on internet job boards, newspapers etc. 2)contact an agency (for something as specialised as web development, you might need to look around to find the right agency) and send their CV. They will then contact them if they have any roles suited for someone of your friends experience. If they do, they may or may not pay more, whch will answer their question.
Ultimatley, it won't hurt to look. Your friend may realise that they are being underpaid - if so, they could go to their current company and explain this, and ask for a payrise. Alternatively, they may find a better suited role.
