How old is too old to still be living under the parent's roof?

The Island's lifestyle- Parents don't have any problem having everyone living under the same roof as long as everyone chips in to pay bills. If they finally think of going out and looking for their own life, it's still not a problem.

The American lifestyle-Once they reach 18yrs, their on their own.

What about the rest in here. What is the lifestyle from where you're at?

Yes and I admire parents who still have their kids with them at home after the age of 18. I just don't understand why some parents wants their kids out of the house by 18yrs.

housemouse-yes. I'm on a tiny remote island. It's amazing how internet can make us communicate from long long and far distance. Lol.

Sagz - I think it depends on individual circs, there are almost too many ponderables to consider (culture, relationships, support and care, logistics, finances, employment or otherwise). So long as it works for both parties it can be a good thing :)

I left home at 16 to join the forces, my youngest moved out at 26 when he moved to York to get married. I know of a few families in my village where the kids can't wait to move out as soon as they leave school and a few families, like me, who have kids in the house until they are in their 40s!!

redhelen-In Saipan, most of us own lands here because our parents gives it to us. The only time we rent is when we don't have a land.

I think that's the best thing with parents. As long as there is respect and cooperation, then everything is fine.

Because they have become adults and need to make a life for themselves, as opposed to living at Hotel Mam and Dad

my friends brother is still at home at 42 years of age. Hes on a decent wage and does not pay any rent at all.
I also know of a guy and his brother who both still live at home and they are in their 50s.

I'm very lucky to have a mum who is still more than happy to have me at home (and a dad who would if needed) at 26. I don't have much choice at the moment.
