Who Else Lives On Downing Street?

I was wondering who else actually lives on downing street?

No. 9 is the Chief Whip's Office, though I don't know if he has residence there.

No. 10 is the Prime Minister, 11 the Chancellor and No. 12 is the Prime Minister's Press Office, though I believe in the past it has been used in some capcity by one or two previous Home Secretaries.

Actually the Blairs live in no.11 and the chancellor of the exchequer lives at no.10

Nobody really.  All the people with official residences there have other homes they use more of the time.  It's just privy council offices.  The house the Blairs use is now no10 but it was a different number in the past - the houses were refurbished and renumbered at some point.

Incidentally, No.10 is the official residence of the First Lord of The Treasury, NOT the Prime Minister (usually the two posts are held by the same person, but it needn't be so.) The official residence of the Prime Minister is Chequers.

Now Downing Street has four consecutive addresses, all on its north side.  Number 9 is the Downing Street entrance to the Privy Council Office and now houses the Chief Whip?s Office; Number 10 is the official residence of the Prime Minister and Number 12 now houses the Prime Minister?s Press Office, Strategic Communications Unit and Information and Research Unit.

But it is Number 11, the official residence of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, which is perhaps the most authentic of the Downing Street buildings. 

Chequers is the official private residence.

Usually the PM lives at no10, but the Blairs had to swap places with the chancellor of the exchequer and move into the more sizeable no 11 as the Blair family was too big for no 10!
