has anyone got a claim to fame or an anecdote, where they met or were involved with someone famous or infamous, and would like to do a bit of name dropping?

my bits were going to a party, invited by IAN DURY, where i sat up in the dragonara hotel in leeds talking to a jazz trumpet player in the band called DON CHERRY, turns out years later to be NINEH CHERRY, and EAGLE EYE CHERRY'S father. I have done personal security for some politicians from Zimbabwe, and i did see MUGABE, but i am not too proud of that.

Randomly nearly knocked down Prince William several times.

Several years ago, met Barrington Phelong, (the composer of Inspector Morse theme song & others) at a cricket club in Essex. He was very down- to- earth and a likeable person.

Saw Barbara Windsor at Waterstones in Kingston mall. 

Saw the Pope when he was touring Asia. He was travelling in the Popemobile.

About 2-3 years ago after a particularly drunken evening whilst a group of us were at a Haven camp I wound up on stage with Bobby Davro, who was wearing my bra on his head, singing "The Wonder of You" with him.

When I was about 14, I met Roy Mc Farland (ex-Derby & England footballer, now Chesterfield manger) at a function, along with a couple of other Derby players. About 5 years later, I was shopping in Derby and was paying for some records at HMV. As I turned away from the cash desk , I bumped into someone. I looked up, and it was Roy McFarland again. No only that, but he remembered my name without any prompting, which left the shop assistant with his jaw on the floor.

About 5 or 6 yrs ago, I was shopping again in Derby, and was in the little Boots store on Victoria Street, picking some stuff up for me and the wife. I was bending down to pick something from the bottom shelf and this pair of shoes appeared in the corner of my eye. I stood up, and was loomed over by Devon Malcolm (ex Derbyshire & England cricketer). He's a big bloke!!

I was a hen do at the Sugar Reef and met Geri Halliwell and Robbie Williams, Geri obliged for a photo with our hen, altho we were too in awe to ask Robbie!

I was lucky enough to visit New York City last summer, the heart of the beautiful and famous people. Unfortunately I only saw two of them in the flesh: Sigourney Weaver, who passed me on a street, and Will Smith (walking to one of the trailers whilst 'Hitch' filming was going underway, scoffing a humongous hamburger) I've also seen David Essex but that was when I was much younger and my mother dragged me along! (He was star guest to switch on christmas lights in a shopping centre).

I've kind of stolen this one but my Grandad used to drink with JRR Tolkein in a pub in oxford. Oh and I saw Vernon Kay yesterday, does that count????

i think i had better add some more of my anecdotes seeing as i started this! it does seem that most ABers have skeletons in their closet.

i was in a kebab shop in earls court a few years back, having just worked for 12 hours on the roof of a penthouse flat in Richmond, absolutely drenched, my hair covered in sawdust, i looked up and saw this tall guy with his back to me wearing full black bike leathers, written on his back was"Rich rocket daddy Hall" in big letters. i then realised that there was a film crew with him. Rich Hall is a canadian comic that had a spot on the Jack Dee show called "Rich's bit" it was usually about some theme, this time he was buying a donner kebab, and saying" this is the best kebab i will ever eat." He turned and nodded and i waited for my kebab. in the end when it was on the JD show it was about skin grafts, and i looked a proper sight at the back.

I was backstage at bingley hall with Thin lizzy and met Scott Gorham and Snowy White(he played on the wall album)

When I was little I spent a lot of time at my grandparents in Kingsbury, NW9. Anyway me Gran was friends with a lady round the corner, this lady was Charlie Watts' aunt and it was in her house that the Stones gathered in the very early days to practice. When they heard about me they sent a message inviting me to go see them - crikey, I was only 9 and couldn't imagine actually seeing these people play who I watched every week on Ready Steady Go. My uncle was 20 years older than me and he lived at home (i.e. chez Granny) and he said he'd come with me. Thankyou but no way! A few days later they sent a signed photo round (authentic, Bill Wyman's was smudged even) with these words from Mick "It"s good to know we've got such young fans as they will grow old with us" My uncle has never forgiven me - nor have I actually!!

I went to see "The Kumars at No. 42" being filmed and Martin Kemp was on it and we were sat right next to his Missus (Shirley - from Pepsi and Shirley fame) and his kids in the audience.

Met Princess Margaret once when I was a Brownie Guide!! She shook my hand.

And Roy Castle (from Record Breakers) was playing trumpet at our local "Children's World" once and I saw him right the other side of the window (he was inside I was outside)!!!

Green Cross Code Man Dave Prowse came to my junior school for a talk on road safety back on November 5th 1987. Even though I never met him face to face, he really is taller in person, with green Lycra et al. The local newspaper got excited about it.

On the same day as the Omagh bomb went off in Northern Ireland, I met Richard Bacon, who was then doing Blue Peter who was helping open a clothes shop in the town where I lived. He was nice and chatted to people and signed autographs. However it was only a couple of months before that cocaine incident, which got him sacked from the children�s television programme. Still, that occasion made the event more memorable.

I met some BBC Radio Cornwall presenters when I visited the Newlyn Fish Festival on my birthday of all days last year when I was on holiday in Cornwall. I saw Janet Eathorne (the Cornish Shirley Bassey, methinks), and I spoke to BBC radio Cornwall reporter Ed Goodridge who was also there, as well as a number of other people.

I was in the same room as various local Conservative candidates for the forthcoming General Election, including Patrick Mercer and Anna �Central News� Soubry at a local Conservative Party meeting recently.

Also met the late Leslie Crowther on August 14th 1987 when he opened a new branch of Index (when it was called The Catalogue Shop). Crowther then presented The Price is Right and I came on down (sorry I couldn't resist) to meet him. He autographed the back of the customer selection form inside the book.

..Cozy Powell (ledgend and drummer from Ranibow) bought me a drink in a pub in wales where he had a hide-away retreat..lovely guy rip Cozy...I have fed and watered most of the corrie cast... said "bore da" (good morning) to Anthony Hopkins while he was directing a film down here in Wales...met Simon O'Brian (aka Damon Grant from Brookside) way back in the early 80s when I was 13 and completley in love with him...blush...

Me and my sister took my dad out for fathers day he loves steam engines so we took him to loughborough station were they were unvailing a new engine, Pete Waterman did the unvailing i said hello to him but he had to run to some chiro appointment so he was only there briefly. I did a manicure on Jane Middlemiss at Ragdale Hall when i was a beauty therapist. I also saw there Ruth from Hollyoaks, The big guy from cold feet (cant' remember his name sorry) Betty and Emily from Emmerdale. we also had Helen from Big brother doing some filming she played up for the camera it was unreal! silly mare! Those are but to name a few.

My personal claim to fame was getting in to mixmag a clubbing magazine with 3 big pictures of me in my old clubbing attire down the middle of a page. I was made up n my mates were sooo jealous hee hee!

I was on So Graham Norton and took a big, white, saggy novelty bra with gift bows on it, which very nearly won me a holiday. It was nerve wracking, standing up in the audience, telling the story about the bra, but was good fun, too. The guests were Eddie Ervine (?), Ann Kirkbride (Deirdre) and Linda Hamilton (from The Terminator) who was standing there on stage, holding the bra up to herself!
