A film-related question I know, but more casual film fan traffic on here -

I went with the present Mrs Hughes to see 'Contagion' yesterday, based on its stirling cast list and collection of stirling reviews.

It is one of the most titanically lousy films I have ever seen ever! No one scene appeared to relate in any way to the scene before it, or the one following, and people appeared and disappeared without explanation. The dialogue was unintelligible and the payoff was predictable.

All that aside - my actual question is - who thinks Jude Law actually has any talent at all?

He managed to worst performance by far in this dog's breakfast - no mean feat - but his accent was utterly laughable. Supposedly Australian, his voice wobbled into his 'Alfie' personna more than once, and he proved the 'Andy Hughes Cap Rule' yet again - no-one, but no-one looks anythng other than a dweeb wearing a flat cap!

So apart from his Best Supporting Oscar years ago, just what is so wonderful about the balding lothario that makes producers continue to employ him?

You live in Stirling?
I've not read too much of your question in case of spoilers as I want to see this film but I saw the bit about Jude Law and in answer to that question, I've never thought he has any particular acting talent and definitely never saw why the ladies swoon over him. But then I think that of Gweneth Paltrow and a few other very famous people and clearly my opinion is in the minority or I guess they wouldn't be where they are now!

He has apparently received rave views for his Hamlet and 2 Laurence Olivier nominations..............

Have to disagree....our mate is here at the moment. Italian/Irish....he looks bloody good in his flat cap :-)
Perhaps some lady fans would give him 'their seal of approval'. Maybe that is why they keep employing him.
Who got zapped?
I'm not a fan in general but I thought he was good with Robert Downey Jnr in Sherlock Holmes.
Ozzies think acting is for gays, that's why we end up with the Jude Law's of this world playing the part.
