i work with lots of foriegn people and 1 portuguise girl said that foriegn people can vote in the election, is this true because i thought it was only british nationals who can have a vote

Irish and Commonwealth citizens can vote here.  EU citizens can vote only in local elections but not general elections.

To be eligible to vote in British local government elections, an EU citizen must be included on the electoral register for the constituency they vote in.
