Is smell-o-vision being used in our cinemas?
3 Answers
I recently went to the cinema to see 'Warhorse'. Every time the German NCO came on the screen smoking a cigar I thought I could smell cigar smoke. I was half expecting to smell cordite during the war scenes and horse manure at other times but I didn't notice that. None of my companions was aware of any odours. This is strange as I am usually accused of having a poor sense of smell (I'm the guy who leaves the gas unlit on the cooker and everyone else can smell it). Was this an automatic reaction to seeing the guy having a smoke or are the film makers really using 'smell-o-vision' which I am certain was being suggested as an add-on feature to make a cinema visit even more realistic
