Has anyone ever seen the Northern Lights from a holiday destination, and if so, where ? I have just had a "holiday" in Iceland which was a total washout. One other traveller on the same tour had been to several places in Scandinavia and had taken a flight from Scotland to the Arctic circle, at great expense, but she still never did see the Northern Lights. Please only answer this if you can say you have actually seen the Northern Lights from a holiday destination

there are orca "safaris" in the area, http://www.tysfjord-t...er.no/safari/english/ and the operators claim that aurorae are frequently seen...

My daughter was on holiday in Canada, near Quebec and saw the Lights several years ago
I haven't; but I'd just point out that this is supposed to be an excellent year for northern lights (something to do with the cycle of solar activity).

There are some suggestions here

Good luck. I'd love to see them myself, but like whales and tigers and things, nothing's ever guaranteed.

One thing to conisder.... dont book your trip when there is a full moon at your destination as its light will wash out any aurora's.
Thanks for the link mushroom but unfortunately the season seems to end today!

Looking at Porjus now slinky - interesting.

Thanks Jason - it seems that the full moon issue definitely needs to be factored in to any trip.
